Training for the Muse.
The alchemical fire of the sacred feminine. A living tradition.

About the School of 3 Lights

The School of 3 Lights is a nonprofit school dedicated to preserving the root of the arts.

Artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers, scholars, perfumers, naturalists, filmmakers, gardeners, writers, and ink-makers, among others, are attracted to the school, coming together in reverence to the majesty of life.

The school was formed for those artists who are living the passion to follow a cry, a call, a slant of light from within, who are reaching toward something far greater than themselves. Despite all failure, this necessity reaches toward humanity and the Earth. The call itself can be trained, servant to the beauty and mercy of the divine.

While we gather for residencies, performances, readings, meditation, critiques, and other events at the school’s physical location in Maine, the school also exists in a location beyond the realm of the material.  The training required for the muse to be reawoken to its purpose occurs through the heart—a rigorous inward journey.  Only there can the muse begin to be trained.

The school is not a school in the way many of us have understood the word.  There is no certificate of achievement, no initiation, no graduation, no fixed class or group, no credentials.  The school is not religious, nor based in belief.  The school is neither a collective nor a method of working.  The guidance is individualized.  The experience is first-hand.  The training is precise, yet nameless.  What is made or produced by the artist is secondary to the artist’s shift in consciousness, which is made possible through direct transmission and the light of a mystical lineage of love.
